Every part of the code tells you something — capacity, case size and polarity. Not all of it is amps.
JIS index of capacity + cranking. Higher is stronger.
Width / height size class (B < D < E).
Case length ≈ 23 cm (232 mm).
Red + post on the left. R = right.
The JIS trap: A JIS code like NS70 — the size on a Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra or Kia Cerato — is 65 Ah, not 70. The number is a case-size code, not the capacity, so buy by the amps, never by the code number.
How to read a battery code
Egyptian cars mix European (DIN) and Asian (JIS) batteries — and most people just say the amps. Here’s what each one means.

Gel and lithium exist too but are niche here. In Egypt it’s the heat — not the cold — that kills a battery, so buy a recently made one (check the production date) and don’t under-size the amps.
